...stimmy yam, stimmy yay.
What is the incentive for Trump to sign the Stimulus bill? What can you threaten him with? More negative media coverage? 😄 He can dip out in just over 3 weeks. Then it becomes Biden's problem. The media can continue to blame Trump--and they will, most likely--but it won't matter. The newly hungry and homeless won't give AF about your excuses and what the previous guy did. At least, they won't for long. They'll want to know what the guy currently in the big chair is doing and going to do. I guess you'll just have to hope for more than he offered to Black people who won the election for him.
There's a lesson in this for you. First, reduce your focus on the President and the presidency in general. Blaming him for everything lessens your ability to use that focus in targeted ways when it matters to shape public perception and apply what little pressure you do have to apply. Stop worrying about the color of his hair or whether he's in bed with the Russians or Chinese (they all are) and shoot your shot only when it counts. My guess is the President is using this time to negotiate his post presidency treatment. While I believe most of this has already been decided, there's always wiggle room in the process. There are people who will always have a hard-on for Trump even after he leaves office. They will want to go after him for various transgressions, real or imaginary. I think this time is about ensuring certain outcomes for him and his family in return for his full compliance.
Understand that, if he does nothing, it means the Democrats need to win both seats on January 5th to convincingly push the agenda assigned to them. If they are not given the two Senate seats, the Republicans then become what the Democrats have been over the last 4 years: the obstructionist party. And that may be part of the plan. The point of a divided government is largely to give each half of your population something to focus their anger and frustration on. If the Democrats do win control of the Senate, be prepared for some real ill sh!t in 2021. There needs to be something or some things that will create the narrative about taking control back from the Dems as things continue to deteriorate in general. Of course, we also have the Supreme Court so some of the f#ckery that re-focuses a portion of the population on the provided targets could come from there. In any case, there will be f#ckery and the people, Black people in particular, should expect to take the brunt of it, not the politicians.
Know that neither party gives AF about you. They're paid actors. The Democratic faction is said to want to give more money to everybody but Americans. The Republican side is said to be unwilling to just give money to Americans and separate it from the Pork they like either. While I think congress is largely a dog and pony show, I do think the way congress operates reflects the will of the powers that be. It's like the WWE. You're watching a show, and while it's fake, the people behind it are very real, and the people behind the scenes are making real decisions to achieve their objectives, financial and otherwise. Now those decisions can increase or decrease the number of people who watch and participate(spend money). And those decisions and the subsequent responses can, in turn, inform what the corporate powers may do going forward. How loud you boo the heel or cheer the hero at a show can have an impact, especially over a long period of time (and they don't care which one you do), but by the time you get to that point, which is akin to voting in the political process, it's so late in the game that your participation is usually a formality at best.
