I hear so many people exalt rap and rappers. It's one thing to appreciate rap as documentation of the decline or to appreciate a rapper for overcoming the odds and surviving, but you do realize what they are saying is in no way a viable path forward for the masses, right? I said earlier that Black Youtubers are the new gangsta rappers selling us cap. Well, the old ones are still at it. When you look at the comments, there are a lot of people talking about how incredible these verses are.

I randomly selected a few comments from 22K listed on youtube and other sites as the image for this blog.

This is a problem.

What they are saying isn't a blueprint to success or something to be exalted. They are just capitalizing on your stupidity. It's one thing to enjoy what these rappers and now youtubers say as pure entertainment but, if you take them seriously, you are getting played. Think of all their peers: Dead, broke or in jail. But hey, they made it. And you can't win if you don't play, right? The pathway to collective success isn't through a damn lotto, draft or get-rich-quick scheme. The next generation rappers i.e. Black youtubers aren't much different. They're like Nas, but their rap is a little different. They still want you to "join us," but on their patreon. Rappers only used to ask for a one time fee to buy their albums. Black Youtubers want you to pay every month.

Seriously, who do you think these hustlers are talking to? It's not the people buying their album or paying for premium content. I'm asking you to forego going out to eat one weekend and pick up a silver eagle. I'm saying if you have a job that has benefits, pay the 5-10 dollars a month for a minimum amount of life insurance. I know where we are collectively based on the data. And I speak as if that is the case. So when these people are talking about high value this or investing that or being bosses or designer sh!t, know(no) they aren't talking to you. They can't be. They are talking at you and trying to get you to give it up like some bimbo at the club.

Let me tell you what Nas and Jay Z are actually saying in their latest collab with the fat Arab. Let me be up front in saying this is about 5-10% creative interpretation because who knows exactly what the f#ck they're talking about or what's going through their minds with every bar. But, for the most part, this is what they are saying in narrative form.

Nas:

I am about to make a public proclamation usually made by the kind of people who dance on street corners with signs to drum up business. Only royalty may be in my presence or, in the more modern parlance, only "high value men" may be around me.

I refuse to leave my financial destiny to chance. Instead, I invest heavily in cryptocurrency and I fancy myself as a modern day outlaw in this heavily unregulated and volatile industry. I'm like a settler planting his flag on a stolen plot of land in this new and burgeoning American e-frontier. I intend to be like the founders of companies I've name dropped throughout my career who built their empire using ill-gotten gains and unethical practices.

You should join us. We need more people who come from where I'm from. Where am I from, you ask? I'm from a urine-soaked, sh!t hole affectionately referred to as the ghetto. You might know my neighbor, Satan? I now live well in Mexico, adopting their culture despite it being known for it's brazen and overt anti-black racism. I drink heavily, but I am as healthy as I am wealthy, which is to say very.

I have helped a lot of people get money, cars and other items or substances that make life worth living. By the time you hear me saying this, I will be doing something else in the pursuit of wealth. I started off selling cocaine and doing violent crimes so you are wasting your time if you want me to forgive you for anything despite all the misery and death I spread throughout my community.

Jay-Z:

I have more than the gross domestic product of several small nations combined and a beautiful wife as well. It's nothing but the finer things in life for me. My adversaries know not to oppose me because, despite my refined image, I may revert back to an uncivilized state. I'm telling you this as a courtesy, but always remember where I come from and what that could mean for your personal safety. You might know some of my neighbors: Nas and Satan. My ascension parallels that of your Messiah, hence my nickname as The God M.C. aka J-Hova. You murdered Christ in an attempt to stop him and his message but, in doing so, you actually spread his message and influence. Similarly, you tried to stop me by creating the hostile environment where I, Nas and Satan live and now I'm one of the richest and most influential people on the planet. Ironically, the way to stop me would have been to help me early on. Now I am a true citizen of the world who appreciates what the world has to offer in terms of culture, architecture and alcohol. Additionally, I invest in many other businesses and people in return for a percentage. And, in this way, we can all make a lot of money even though the statistics and former artists on my label show otherwise. I really enjoy who I've become. My health is important, but my wealth is paramount. Like my colleague, Nas, the two are intertwined.
